How it works

1. Lending

• Sign in and press Lend something. Add a photo, its condition, the longest you'll lend it for and your pickup area.
• Lending is free. No money passes through the site.

2. Borrowing

• Open an item and ask to borrow it: the day you need it and for how many days.
• The lender sees your request and your record, and decides. Numbers are shared only once you are accepted.

3. Giving it back

• The item shows On loan with its return date. You both get a reminder the day before it is due.
• The lender marks it returned, and it is available again.

4. The rule of thumb

• If you borrow it and it breaks, you fix it.
• Talk to the lender first, and agree how it gets fixed or replaced.

5. Asking

• Can't find what you need? Press Ask to borrow. Members who have one can let you know.
